When you purchase our software, you get free upgrades for LIFE. We provide new functionality at least monthly. We update the "robots list" (the ip addresses of search engine spiders) roughly every week. Both program and robot updates occur automatically through the program console.

Below, you can view the most recent updates to Cloaker. As you can see, we CONSTANTLY monitor what the engines are doing and update Cloaker accordingly. We CONSTANTLY ensure that our spider lists are up-to-date. We CONSTANTLY innovate brand new features and add-ons for Cloaker. Our number 1 goal is to deliver an outstanding product that you can use to get more listings.

Cloaker Update List

In 8.35993 (December 29, 2007), CloakerLIVE subscriptions now activate ALL THREE ADD-ONS!

In 8.35992 (September 5, 2007), automatic creation of Organic Hyperlinks should occur more regularly and reliably. Please see notes in that section. This is a CloakerLIVE.com feature.

In 8.35992 (September 4, 2007), the use of [cloakword] will work interchangeably with [CLOAKWORD]. Previously, only the uppercase version worked (and the manual incorrectly stated that the lowercase version was necessary). Now, either will work.

In 8.35992 (September 4, 2007), the display of cloaked URLs from stuffer pages has been fixed. The correct URLs should now appear without any errors.

In 8.359 (January 16, 2007), Link Blocker (in Advanced tab) now includes the ability to block link fragments. Google increasingly is spidering obviously phony URLs on some domains, and this new feature offers the ability to throw 404 errors on such crawls.

In 8.3499993 (November 18, 2006), a new feature, in Advanced tab at the very bottom, "Hide Cloaker configuration files" will have Cloaker create an .htaccess file in the current directory to hide Cloaker configuration files (including logs, variables, and other things) from prying Web eyes. We recommend that you enable this.

In 8.3499993 (November 18, 2006), a new "safety guard" for auto-updating or manual updating of the spiders list: in case the receiving spider list is corrupt, it is not updated.

In 8.3499992 (November 15, 2006), some users experienced a "Template Not Found" error in displays of pages. This problem occured in the last version while implementing the Markov Engine integration, and this version fixes that problem.

In 8.29994 (June 21, 2006), CloakerLIVE integration now supports Organic Hyperlink Lists (just look in the Keywords tab via CloakerLIVE). This lets you specify that you want Cloaker to automatically add X number of new URLs every Y days. This helps fool the engines into thinking that your site is organically growing.

In 8.29993 (June 21, 2006), moved all the auto-update/auto-clear/auto-regenerate sections out of the Advanced tab and into respective sections.

In 8.29992 (June 14, 2006), fixed CloakerLIVE.com URL.

In 8.29991 (June 13, 2006), an occasional problem occured when users tried to update their installation AND had changed the name of their manage.pl to something else. In this instance, a set of strange characters would be used to access the manage.pl page. This version fixes this issue.

In 8.2999 (June 13, 2006), Templates were hidden in the last release with the accidental removal of a DIV. This fixes that.

In 8.2998 (June 13, 2006), CloakerLIVE.com now supports selective form submissions, allowing you to only submit selected elements to multiple installations. This is a great way to preserve some individual elements, such as URLs, on each installation, while mass-controlling other elements.

In 8.2997 (June 13, 2006), MassDuplicator.com integration has been moved into a new CloakerLIVE tab. Also, CloakerLIVE members now are granted 250 free MD daily filters of cloaked pages per day.

In 8.2996 (June 13, 2006), moved the Management Console Program Name renamer to the Advanced Tab. Way too many users are renaming their manage.pl to the same thing as their index.pl page which overwrites Cloaker. Don't do that!

In 8.2996 (June 12, 2006), CloakerLIVE.com now lets you control your own personal Search Engine Spiders list. This lets you manage your own IP list that won't be overwritten when you update the more general Search Engine Spiders list.

In 8.2995 (June 2, 2006), a fix for users who experienced errors when updating to 8.2994. This error was from the MassDuplicator.com integration, which does not work on all hosts.

In 8.2995 (June 2, 2006), we have elimiated the auto-update feature to update our software automatically. We did this because we wish users to update manually, to ensure that their updates are error-free. As we introduce more complex code, and as more installations occur on non-standard servers, it is often difficult to catch all problems that might occur. Relying on manual updates will limit any problems that might occur. (Note: we will have an alternative auto-update process available soon.)

In 8.2994 (June 1, 2006), if your system doesn't support MassDuplicator.com integration, it will now tell you so.

In 8.2994 (May 14, 2006), integration of Mass Duplicator with SEC. Look for the "Mass Duplicator integration" link at the top of your Management Console.

In 8.2993 (April 14, 2006), a few fixes to repair an unintentional bug in installations on Windows machines.

In 8.2992 (April 6, 2006), a new CloakerLIVE exclusive: when you access your Cloaker installations through CloakerLIVE.com you have a new option to disable the display/access of your Management Console EXCEPT through CloakerLIVE. Anyone else trying to view/access your manage.pl page will return "404 Page Not Found" errors.

In 8.2991 (April 4, 2006), in the Advanced tab, there is now an option to remove Cloaker branding from the login screen.

In 8.299 (March 2, 2006), in Templates Add-on, you can create multiple new word lists or paragraph templates at the same time by separating the entries with spaces.

In 8.298 (January 23, 2006), extra spaces that occasionally appeared before some list entries will no longer appear.

In 8.298 (January 23, 2006), if the first URL in the Hyperlinks list in Basic Config has many spaces in-front of it, updating may not occur. (The solution to update is to delete the spaces.) In this version, extra spaces will no longer be added to URLs, and, even if they were, the updating would still happen.

In 8.297 (January 19, 2006), a new Filter for Extractor, allowing you to remove all content found within SCRIPT tags. This effectively allows you to remove Javascript and any other content created by Javascript.

In 8.296 (January 18, 2006), the "Search Engine Spiders" section in the Basic Config tab (the place where you enter search engine IP addresses) now has support for range OR specific IP addresses. Please see that section for more information.

In 8.296 (January 18, 2006), moved sections "Status of Search Engine Cloaker" and "URLs to Send Users To" to the top of the Basic Config area from their previously more hidden location on the same tab.

In 8.295 (January 13, 2006), searchlog and nonsearchlog are automatically created on initial access to manage.pl to avoid problems with creation at non-initiating times.

In 8.295 (January 13, 2006), special protection included for slow hosts to avoid conflicts with config file race conditions.

In 8.295 (January 13, 2006), some very old installations of Cloaker, which had faulty renames of manage.pl, were not upgrading correctly -- special code has been inserted to fix this issue on upgrade (so upgrades should happen without incident). You know you had this issue if you received a warning about securityEmailCheckSecret not working.

In 8.294 (January 11, 2006), update alerts in the Cloaker Management Console are less sensitive, ensuring that only critical/important updates will be highlighted from this version forward.

In 8.293 (January 11, 2006), frequency of auto-updates/etc is increased slightly to 10% of all visits to cloaked pages: that is, 10% of the time when a cloaked page is visited, additional checks will be done as to whether the program, etc, should be updated.

In 8.293 (January 10, 2006), customers who had problems with auto-clear, auto-update, auto-regenerate will be happy to know that these work again in this release.

In 8.292 (January 7, 2006), major change to auto-updating. Any version installed or updated between December 20, 2005 and January 7, 2006 may need to be manually updated.

You can test to see if you need to do a manual update by attempting to auto-update from within your Cloaker Management Console: go to the Basic Config tab, scroll to the bottom, make sure the Update radio button is on "Yes", and click "Submit Now". To see if the auto-update was successful, look for "Version 8.292 [or greater] - January 7, 2006" in the right-hand corner below the tabs. If you do not see this (EVEN IF you get a message that says "program updates successful"), then you must manually update:

Go to the Members' Area. If you forgot how to get there, you can use this tool.
Download the "latest version" zip named content.zip.
Unzip this file. Upload the 5 files (manage.pl, cloak.pl, index.pl, stuffer.pl, SearchEngineCloakerAgent.pm) and REPLACE the old program files of the same names. Do not worry, your settings will be preserved (they are not stored in the program files, but the other data files that you are not replacing).
If you renamed the manage.pl or index.pl files via the Management Console, you must then rename the new uploaded manage.pl and index.pl files to the same name. (Check permissions before and after to ensure that the new files have the same permissions as the old.) [An alternative to this approach is to temporarily rename the files back to manage.pl and index.pl via the Management Console prior to uploading the new versions.]
Log back into your Management Console and ensure that everything is working correctly.

We apologize for this inconvenience, but in the process of adding significant new functionality for the auto-upgrade and support for Multiple Installation Manager, we inadvertantly altered the existing auto-update process.

In 8.291 (January 6, 2006), we now recommend that the "Automatic Updates" in the Advanced Tab be set to "no". This feature will be deprecated and replaced by superior functionality in a coming release.

In 8.291 (January 6, 2006), you now have the option to hide advertisements in the Cloaker Management Console.

In 8.291 (December 15), the Free Templates are now included in the Templates Add-on. Existing users of this add-on can make use of a checkbox to create these new templates for the first time. These templates are largely examples of how to use various features of Templates.

In 8.291 (December 8), the occasional problem that occured when our server was down and logins to Cloaker installation announced a new version was available has been fixed.

In 8.291 (November 11), Static Pages listing of static URLs has been cleaned up... we understand that many users have many, many listings, and the old presentation was occasionally hard to load. While this is not a perfect solution, we think it better uses the brower's real estate.

In 8.291 (November 11), the "Average Number of Words Per Cloaked Page" field is now a range. Cloaker will randomly decide on the approximate length of the page to display based on this range. We feel that it is increasingly important that pages vary from page to page, and this is one new feature to help you accomplish that. (Note: this field is often not used if you are using add-ons.)

In 8.291 (November 11), the "Target Word Density" field is now a range between two numbers. Each time a spider visits a cloaked page, a random number is selected between the range. (Note: this field is often not used if you are using add-ons.)

In 8.291 (November 11), the "Target Word Density" field can no longer be set below zero.

In 8.291 (November 11), in Templates, the use of [Linkword1], [Linkword2], etc will result in automatic capitalization of the first character. Use of the standard [linkword1], etc., will return the word without any change (i.e., it will neither uppercase nor lowercase it).

In 8.291 (November 11), in Templates, the [linkwords] syntax no longer displays blank spaces at its front (which it used to do).

Next releases prepare for 8.3 release and will be labeled from 8.291 - 8.2999 as necessary.

In 8.243, you can now automatically capitalize wordlist entries by using, for example, [T_adjective] (instead of [t_adjective] in paragraph templates. (Added October 23; other 8.243 items below were added earlier in rolling release.)

In 8.243, Extractor can now do simple display of RSS feeds (please report problems to Peter -- this feature is in beta.)

In 8.243, the use of {} in Templates are no longer "reserved" characters and cannot be used for mini-wordlists.

In 8.243, when you login to the Management Console, you will be alerted if there is a newer version that you can upgrade to.

In 8.243, updates to the User Manual -- please re-read this section carefully.

In 8.243, earlier versions of the pre-header included default content that included \" when they should have just included " -- this version fixes that, removing the faulty HTML. Please check your Advanced Tab to confirm.
